Are you looking for some new tunes? Maybe a break from rap? We got you covered! Here are some of the best R&B albums that have dropped this year…

RENAISSANCE – BEYONCE

It’s been a minute since Beyonce gave us a solo album (hard to believe it’s been six years since ‘Lemonade’!), but ‘Renaissance’ is worth the wait. The album is poppin’ with dancefloor anthems that remind us why Queen B… is Queen!

GOOD MORNING GORGEOUS – MARY J. BILGE

Mary J Bilge is an O.G. on the R&B scene, having first released her debut album in 1992! This album – her fourteenth – features collaborations with the likes of DJ Khaled, Usher and Anderson Paak. It charted in the Billboard 100 upon release, and the album’s title track, ‘Good Morning Gorgeous’, is destined to make some playlists!

DAWN. F.M. – THE WEEKND

The fifth studio album from Canadian hitmaker The Weeknd is more synth-pop than he’s ever been before… and we are here for it! The album charted internationally with singles ‘Take My Breath, Out Of Time’ and ‘Less Than Zero’, reminding me why The Weeknd is an artist not to sleep on!

BACK OF MY MIND – H.E.R.

After years of teasing us with E.P.s, H.E.R. finally delivers her debut album, ‘Back Of My Mind’… and it should be on the front of your mind to listen to! Charting in the U.S. Billboard 100 Top Ten upon release, it features guest vocals with the likes of DJ Khaled, Lil Baby and Ty Dollar Sign.

KEYS – ALICIA KEYS

She’s the same vintage as Beyonce, and like Queen B, Alicia Keys is having a great year. Her eighth studio album reminds us of what an honest and original artist she is – and boasting 26 tracks – reminds us of how hard she works.

PLANET HER – DOJA CAT

Doja Cat is fast becoming the most famous artist on the planet, and this number-one album delivers the goods… and then some! The third studio album from Doj features collaborations with Ariana Grande, The Weeknd and Gunna (to name just a few). It’s a cracking album full of juicy singles and is well worth your time (if you haven’t played it to death already, that is!).

HONESTLY, NEVERMIND – DRAKE

Any release from Drake was welcome, and this surprise release was all the more welcome! With more dance and R&B than Drake has ever been, ‘Honestly Nevermind’ is an album destined for the clubs – particularly the thumping track, ‘Massive’!
